The poster of the German kid holding food with the women around him. (That all people from the South are poor farmers.)

Metaphor:

Save the spit for the Germans. (spit)

Not sure how this is a metaphor. What is being compared?
He was a package no one wanted to be caught holding. (It is stating that he is dangerous)
Good example!!!

Personification:

Sergeant Bromsky leaned forward to get a better look at Patsy's thick, wavy hair, hearted-shaped face, and serene smile. (the wavy hair, hearted-shaped face, and serene smile).

The poster of the German kid holding food with the women around him. (The description of the Nazi) What makes this personification??? Explain.

Allusion: The French Resistance Fighters in France were hinting that if he walked far enough he would find other fighters. (The allusion is that they thought if they walked far enough they would find other fighters.)

When she smiled, Henry recognized her as the pregnant woman, no longer pregnant. (His allusion was that the girl was pregnant and now is not)
Joe - you've got some of the ideas down. Still needs work.

Internal Conflict

- When one is confronted with a problem that presents difficult choices. One must make a decision one way or another. Think about the events in your life and try to recall a time when you experienced an inner conflict.

External Conflict

- When one faces someone else or some situation that is working against one's own desires or goals.

Henry's 3 Internal Conflict's

- When Henry saw Dan get murdered he had thoughts about him, his wife, and his baby Colleen
- Henry thinks about his Mom and how she is worrying that she will get a letter saying that he was missing in action

- Henry's father always thinks less of him even when Henry tries to impress him.
Henry's 3 External Conflict's

- Henry kills two Nazi's
- Henry breaks his ankle
- Henry tries to shoot at the Nazi plane trying to kill him while he is parachuting down.

Henry's Internal Conflicts

Henry is a very mature and tough man not just on the outside but also in the inside. His father, who thinks less of him or just has no respect for him, gives him criticism saying that he is always doing the wrong thing. Henry thought he could impress his father telling him he was going to fight in the war, but his father was still disappointed in him. When trying to find his way back home, Henry is always wondering what his family is doing. They don't know that he is alive or dead. The letter Henry's family received said, "Missing in action". He doesn't want his mom or Patsy worrying about him. Henry saw one of his closest friends on the force get slaughtered by a German plane. Taking that in is very hard to manage.

Henry's External Conflicts

Henry has been through a lot of physical pain. Especially when he broke his ankle while landing with his torn parachute and then having to walk on it for a couple miles. He has had to make decisions that will stay with him for the rest of his life. For example, when he shot the two Nazi's that had tried to kill him. Blood like that on your hands will stay with you forever. He also did some stupid things like thinking that he could take down a German plane with a Lugar. But when your in that situation what are you gonna do throw a shoe at it?

Claudette's 3 Internal Conflict's

- She seeks vengeance for the people who murdered her mother.
- She wants to fight against the Germans
- She basically wants to kill Nazis

Claudette's 3 External Conflict's

- Since she is a women they won't let her fight
- She shows no fear
- She wants to kill Germans

Claudette's Internal Conflicts
Claudette has an internal conflicts that are a bit more "dark" than Henry's. She seeks vengeance for the people who murdered her mother. Who wouldn't? If someone killed anyone in my family my heart would soak up with vengeance too. She wants to kill Germans because of what they are doing to innocent people (especially the Jewish peoples). She basically wants to just kill Nazi's. Like I said pretty dark.

Claudette's External Conflicts
Claudette has some external conflicts as well. She shows no fear. If you're a Nazi you would want to run from her cause she will kill you. I doubt she would give you mercy. Since she is a women they won't let her fight in the war. She would probably make the perfect soldier, but a lot of men at the time were sexist. And again she wants to kill those Germans.

Individual Assignment #3

1. Research how young people were indoctrinated into Nazism. What was the purpose of such organizations?
2. How did these organizations fit into Hitler's plan for a perfect world?
3. Write your answers in paragraph form.
4. Due date: Friday, May 7
5. Put assignment on your individual WIKI page. Label it Assignment #3.

Hitler and his Nazi Party targeted young youth as an audience for their propaganda messages. In order for the youth in Germany to understand the Nazi curriculum, teachers had to teach them it. Hitler ordered Nazi officers to inspect teachers to see if they was teaching the right curriculum. If a teacher would refuse to teach the lessons the Nazi Party wanted, he would be sent to long month training courses and instructed on how and why to teach the new curriculum. Jewish teacher were not allowed to teach and women teachers were sent back to there homes to become house wives and mothers. Hitler believed that his idea of a perfect world was the only one. He wanted to have power over everything, he wanted to get rid of people he didn't considered "perfect" (mainly Jewish), and he also believed that he should rule for thousands of years. Adolf Hitler wanted his imagination of a perfect world to come to reality and the scary part is that it almost did.

INDOCTRINATING YOUNG CHILDREN WAS KEY TO HIS PLAN WORKING FOR FUTURE YEARS. IF YOUNG CHILDREN ONLY KNEW ONE WAY OF LIFE, THEY WOULD EASILY LIVE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES WITHOUT QUESTIONING IT.

Individual Assignment #4

1. Define the terms 'bandwagon' and 'scapegoat'. How do those two terms relate to your novel? Explain.
2. Due Date: Tuesday, May 11
3. Put assignment on your individual WIKI page. Label it Assignment #4.

Bandwagon - a particular activity or cause that has suddenly become fashionable or popular

In my novel The Nazi Party is kind of like a bandwagon. It spreads all over Germany and Europe.

Scapegoat - a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others

In my novel the French blame the American's for the death of their people. It is not proof that its the Americans fault.
WHILE IT IS TRUE THAT THE NAZIS SPREAD ALL OVER EUROPE, THE PEOPLE JUMPED ON THE BANDWAGON AND FOLLOWED THE NAZIS. MOST OF THIS WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAD NO OTHER CHOICE IF THEY WANTED TO LIVE. THIS, TOO, WAS A TACTIC USED BY HITLER. OUT OF FEAR, PEOPLE DID WHAT THEY WERE TOLD.
